When We Are Free is the short film I made for a school project. It’s based off of real experiences of self-inflicted loneliness. I also had contact with the singer of the song and was allowed to use it for this project.
Michel has always been quiet, but after graduation, his busy school life gets overthrown by this newfound freedom.
Desperate for meaning, Michel isolates himself in his room at the beginning of summer break,
drowning in thoughts of his own fears about life. Determined to pull him from his spiral, his best friend,
Emily, spends all of summer showing Michel that there’s still beauty in life and
that this freedom is not something dangerous.
